What is your story? Or rather, what is the narrative that you have told yourself about who you are? From the age of twelve I adapted two phrases, they have been a catalyst of growth and restoration for me. Every time my boat sinks low and I think this is it, I’m going to capsize, I can’t see this one through I say to myself, ‘I think therefore I am’ and ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ We all tell ourselves stories about who we are and what we can become. We hide behind our pains and scars hoping to be as invisible as possible so as to not accumulate anymore scars. All the while telling ourselves we are living our best lives. Hiding behind our fears. If I have learned anything from the year 2020 it is that pain and fear is humanity’s best kept secret to rising up, to becoming the bold and powerful creatures we were created to be. In our DNA the lord placed the ability to overcome every circumstance. The bible says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I love that verse, it literally gives me goose bumps every time. I’m one of those people that take the word for what it is. I’m not interested in the add-ons and the theories. If it says I can do all things then it means I can do all things. Now don’t get me wrong I am not about to jump off an airplane for no reason screaming I can do all things because somethings you just don’t do. Right? But when his will and your will aligns there is no demon, no weapon, no disease, no circumstance on the face of this earth that you cannot overcome. As we say goodbye to 2020, a tumultuous and God awful year. I want to encourage everyone to rise up and look up. Tell yourself that you can. You may have lost your identity, loved ones, your possessions whatever it is but you are still here still breathing still alive. What are you telling yourself? Are you telling that person in the mirror that you are strong, you are courageous, you are loved, you are revered by your struggles simply because you are human. You are an overcomer of your circumstances and you will not lie down or back down. I love each and everyone of you and I pray blessings and peace in this new year 2021. Most of all I pray this year you find yourself and your purpose and that you walk in it boldly and fiercely because you were created by God to do so. All that you need is already deposited inside of you and yes you can!
